The 2016 tax roll is officially closed. It has been certified by the Louisiana Tax Commission. Certified tax rolls for the year 2016 and prior years, as shown online, reflect the values shown on the Grand Recap as certified to the Louisiana Tax Commission. Any subsequent additions, deletions or changes made after certification by the Louisiana Tax Commission are not reflected.
The 2017 tax roll is now a work in progress changing as a result of ownership transfers, new construction, exemptions, etc. The 2017 tax roll will be certified by mid-November. Once certified, changes to the tax roll cannot be made by the Assessor’s office. At that point, any changes must be presented to and approved by the Louisiana Tax Commission.
Because changes to the tax roll cannot be made by the Assessor’s office once the tax roll is certified, it is important for property owners to review their assessments. Every year, prior to certification, the tax roll is officially open for inspection and this time period is called “open books.” It is during open books that property owners are responsible for reviewing their assessment. For the 2017 tax year, the roll will be officially open for inspection from August 18th through September 4th.
Assessments are searchable on our website. A map of those real estate parcels located within the parish hurricane protection levee system is searchable online. The map is a tool provided as a service to the public for reference and research purposes. The map is not an official survey or an official indication of ownership.
